Burgoo

For those of you that were at the Victory Square Remembrance Day ceremony yesterday, you'll know (1) that the ceremony was very well done as always, and (2) how bloody cold out it was!  My feet got so cold that they got those painful pins and needles.  Needless to say, a warm meal was a requirement.

After coming up against some significant line-ups at Aphrodites and the Oakwood, we got lucky at Burgoo on 4th Ave.  I'd been to Burgoo on Main before, but not the Kits one.  Same atmosphere, same yummy food.  It was definitely what the doctor ordered on a cold day!

Gooey cheese grillers with seasonal greens ($13).  Two grilled, angle-cut filone sandwiches with melted mozzarella, greyure, emmenthal and white cheddar.  This grilled cheese was delicious and like no other grilled cheese I've ever had.  There was cheese on the inside, cheese on the outside, and a slight garlic flavour.  I loved it!  I was also impressed that the salad wasn't just greens and dressing.  The seasonal greens consisted of mixed greens with cut pear, chevre and spiced pecans, finished with Burgoo's cookhouse vinaigrette.

Rooibos tea to warm me up from the inside out.  A bit steep at $3, but the warmth factor was worth it on this particular day.
